3/8″ PEX Tubing with Oxygen Barrier is common for thin slabs, where thickness directly represents the load on the joist system, and is usually installed in such areas of the house as kitchets and bathrooms. Oxygen (O₂) Barrier is a layer of special polymer, abbreviated EVOH, which is typically applied to the external surface of the PEX pipe and is used to protect the heating system’s cast iron and ferrous components from corrosion, thus extending their life.
