Pumping column is one of the most critical elements of an artesian well and is used for mounting ESP at a given elevation and at the same time to lift water from the Taco pump to the mouth of an artesian well.
For water-lifting columns in the previous years has traditionally been applied only to steel tubing, as an alternative to them virtually non-existent. Tubes were going on a welded flange, and for small diameters – on hold with a conical thread.
Steel tubing with its main advantage – durability – has several shortcomings:
* Great weight;
* Significant labor cost in assembly and disassembly of submersible Taco pumps;
* Short lifetime due to corrosion deterioration.
* For thread wear sleeved joints often leads to breakage and falling columns of Taco pumps boreholes.
* A lot of hassle and trouble of the operator of the consumers of water – it is overgrowing the inner surface of ferric hydroxide, which in most cases present in the exploited groundwater. This leads to contamination of drinking water and additional costs for washing and cleaning of PEX pipe.
The use of PEX tubing for water-lifting columns avoids all these problems. PEX tubing is 6-8 times lighter than steel, depending on the thickness of the wall. PEX is not susceptible to corrosion and adhesion (sticking suspensions), so its surface remains clean during the entire period of service, which is 50 years. For water-lifting tubing used PEX PE 100 grade, having a high density (0.965 g/cm3) and, consequently, strength.
