The polyethylene has become the most popular, appreciated and widely-used material in the field of water supply systems. To put it differently, PEX plumbing has revolutionized the business and it has brought many praises to prospects that employed it to further improve homes. Water pumping systems are indispensable in almost every house. This is why professional plumbers and architects have worked endless hours in order to discover a fabric that is certainly both resistant at high pressure and corrosive-proof.

Even though it is a sole material within the ocean of countless others, that happen to be both pricier and of a more impressive quality in most aspects, PEX tubing has a compilation of advantages that cannot be competed with. This is a recognized fact that the water that runs in the city supply pipes is chlorinated and disinfected using various substances that render it safe to drink. This technique makes the whole fluid rather harmful for the plumbing systems, which means as a way to have long-lasting pipes, one should think about resistant material.

The PEX plumbing is accessible for both cold and warm water, and the piping can be positioned in both water supply lines. This versatility is due to the material’s high resistance for both icy and hot temperatures of the liquid. To enable the plumbers and users to be aware of the visible difference, the creators took under consideration a kind of marking of the pipes. Therefore, the PEX tubing is blue for cold and red for warm water.

If an individual attempts silent pipes which may run water without making any sound, then PEX tubing is the solution. When the copper plumbing was applied, many owners complained about clingy, hammer-like noises coming from the walls. As it appeared, the piping system was making that noise due to material from which the pipes were created. Nowadays, because PEX pipes are offered, everybody is able to overlook those nasty moments.

Chance gives that PEX plumbing is quite immune to chlorine and to a substance named scale, feature which supplies it the capability to steer clear of the continuing development of holes and fissures. Moreover, PEX plumbing is a surprisingly fast installation. To put it differently, water will travel with a higher speed though its pipes due to texture of the throughout the conduits. As it appears, in detriment of the metal or PVC tubing, the PEX plumbing is a bit more befitting homes, and for other buildings and factories that want water supply.

Nevertheless, irrespective of the reasons why you buy PEX pipes or fixtures, purchasing superior products is definitely important. An example, for example the above mentioned example pointed out, when stepping into a new home, if your previous owner is not low-priced and invested on the water system installations, you might need to buy absolutely nothing for pipe joints in the past into the future.

For anyone who have fairly recently moved through a household, one must always make sure that they own a great pipes system. Even pex tubing plumbing may damage usually, this is the reason swapping the earlier one, or even the features from the old conduits is actually a great idea. Repairing the actual water lines with similar very good materials just like insulated pex tubing could help stay away from damages including floods and floor trouble. Residing in a building can be worse yet given that you can also need to compensate necessary repairs the walls of their others who live nearby in the case of a water surge, besides their floor. You will discover pex tubing or other installs from the moment new moved in, can help you reduce your cost for several other reparation rates.

As much as shopper tastes, people are likely to buy PEX pipes than iron piping. When looks or costs are the reason why, one can think one more time in choosing this system in regard to the many difficulties that PEX has.

Primary issues which a PEX pipe are generally related to the life span time period of the actual tube. The PEX pipe lasts for around 50 years, but just in some factors. The pipe really should have cold water running through it; it has to be set not even close the hot water tube so that water vapors won’t condense on it, plus it ought to be reinforced if it is a hot water pipe.

PEX piping tools are costly, and these are needed all the time the PEX plumbing pipe ought to be changed. Because of the fact that replacements may be necessary typically, the equipment ends up being obtained. Any PEX pipe is preferred by almost all people today, however the PEX pipe has a few down sides when you compare to the iron water line.

One of the major challenges in a PEX plumbing pipe from the above counted is the water vapors condense. Most of the people use the PEX piping system indoors for the kitchen or the bathing room. So, it happens to be practically inevitable for the cold water pipe to be close to the hot water pipe. Therefore, water could be dripping on the ground not from the PEX plumbing pipe, but with the vapors that form within the two hoses.

Then again, the iron line cannot reduce this matter, and the water on it is going to be leading to corrosion to show up to the conduit which enables it to damage things all over, such as kitchen house furniture.

When compared with the metal tubing, the PEX plumbing pipe needs to have less fixtures and is also much easier to put in. Another plus that the PEX piping system holds over the metal conduit is the selling prices paid for installation and buying the parts. The Copper pipe are more expensive compared to a PEX pipes, therefore takes a lot a bit longer to build a metal domestic plumbing system compared with a PEX piping system.

Some might be after appearance even though it comes to their piping solutions. So, PEX can be an improved option. The PEX pipes come in a diversity of tones, and on can be pick out red-colored designed for hot water, blue for cold water, and green for gas pipe joints and many others.

The PEX pipe is priced somewhere between the iron pipes and the PVC pipes. The quality of the PEX pipe is just like its price. It is way better than the PVC pipes, but not as strong as the iron pipes. When it comes to the resistance of the material, this can be more than enough for some. The PEX pipe can hold for 50 years, and some might plan to sell the house or the apartment during this time. The PEX piping tools also require some money so one can take into consideration the prices paid for tools when adding to the PEX plumbing pipe price.

The fittings must also be included into the price, however one can be less than 2$, and thus the quantity will change the price, not the quality of the products so small such as fittings.

When used for the house heating system, the PEX pipe roller will cost for over 400$, due to the large quantity of PEX piping tubes needed.

One can find the best prices for PEX plumbing pipe online, because here one can get free shipping and other fees applied in stores are cut off. Also, due to the great variety of PEX plumbing pipe systems and tools, the competitors need to come up with lower prices and promotions. The PEX piping tools are also included in promotions, and whenever buying a large quantity of PEX piping tools one can get a major discount or tools as a gift.

Overall, the PEX plumbing pipe can be found at low costs and high quality only in stores online, and only by those that search quite a while, rather than buying directly from the first store or offer they can get.

PEX plumbing pipe installs can also be found on real stores. Here retailers add a few extra fees, but during promotions, or stock clear offs these products can get really cheap. However, looking for such an option can take a lot of time, and most people need to change the installations fast, not next month or next summer.

To find best prices for PEX tubing pipes one must search for a while. This is highly recommended especially if one needs to buy large quantities of PEX. Another way to get a small price in large quantity purchase is to buy directly from the producer, which might give a discount up to 20% off the initial price.

Polyethylene (PE) pressure used for internal and external pressure pipelines. Pipes meet the requirements for installation and operation of the pipes in winter conditions. PE pipe outside diameter from 20 to 63 mm combined with PEX or brass fittings with rubber O-ring, as well as using electric couplings. Pipe diameters from 63 mm to 160 mm connected butt welding. Produced polyethylene pipes for high and low pressure: LDPE and HDPE. Non-pressure polyethylene pipes in diameter from 50 mm to 110 mm are designed for domestic sewage.

Pipe cross-linked polyethylene (PEX)

To make the resistance of polyethylene to high temperatures it is treated under high pressure. In this way, it turns out “cross-linked polyethylene. Crosslinked polyethylene used for heating and water supply. These tubes are mounted with compression fittings.

PEX pipes have been used in water systems, underfloor heating.

Pipes from metal-polymers PEX-AL-PEX

Metal pipes appeared on the market recently. Metal pipes PEX-AL-PEX pipe with an inner layer of aluminum foil. The latter is designed to reduce the coefficient of linear expansion of PEX-pipes.

If you only install PEX tubing is hidden, then the metal-PEX pipes are used in laying out open. Their quality and the advantage to keep the form in bending given the opportunity.

Metal pipes can withstand the constant pressure of 10 bar at 95 deg. Connect the pipe and screw-pressing.

Any expansion system has two main tasks:
1) obtaining the desired final pressure pumped into the facility;
2) the possibility of obtaining the required effective pumping speed of the object.
These tasks can only be provided if there is sufficient integrity of materials, there is no separation of gases or vapors inside the expansion system and the resistance of the pipeline is minimized.

In terms of meeting these conditions and should be considered material for expansion systems. The main materials used for the manufacture of expansion equipment are usually glass, metal and rubber. Are beginning to use plastic instead of glass (PEX tubing, PEX pipe) and ceramic materials (porcelain, magnesium silicate).
Glass

Glass is a water-insoluble silicate salts of silicic acid, which may include elements such as Na, Ca, Br, Pb, etc.
Glass compares favorably with other materials in their properties, of which the most important are:
a) transparency;
b) good Tacoally insulating properties;
c) a negligible vapor pressure;
d) ease of cleaning and removal of adsorbed gases;
e) the ability to easily accept and retain any desired shape.
Virtually glass is gastight, gives a strong and tight connection: glass – glass and glass – metal. The main brands of glass used in expansion technology: C-90-1, C-89-2, C-84-4, C-49-5, C-48-8, C-39-17 silica glass.
Metal

PEX pipe is constructed from a chemical known as polyethylene polymer that is built up by cross links. This cross linked structure of Pex makes it capable for the construction of PEX pipe that can be used in radiant heating systems. It can be used for the insulation of electric cables with sky scraping voltages. It has replaced traditional rigid pipes and made its place in large applications. It is highly flexible, faster and simple to install than other conventional pipes, prevents corrosion and development of pinholes and most importantly it resists the formation of the scales.

These days PEX pipe are becoming the choice of people due to its toughness and great capacity to present optimally in high temperature conditions making them fit in varied applications. The main advantage of this pipe is to remain supple in freezing point. It can be stored in the spools and have very less weight than other pipes.

Installation

First of all measure the pipe according to the requirement and cut it down. At the time of cutting keep in mind that it must not create burrs because it can lead to bad connection. Use good cutting tools to prevent burrs.

Now apply the fittings over the pipe by sliding the crimp ring.

Introduce the end of the fitting into the pipe such that the end of the pipe touches the fitting shoulder.

Make the crimp ring to slide roughly from 1/8 to 1/4 end part of the pipe. Low range can cause weak connections and results in leakage.

Use the crimping tool to construct the ring over the piping. Make the crimp to stick tightly to that place to prevent leakage.

The tools used helps in making tight sealed connections that are leak proof and permanent. These steps can make the installation of the PEX pipe simple and very easy.

PEX pipe has been used in radiant heating systems for quite some time, but is now becoming quite popular in plumbing systems as well. There are a few benefits that come with using PEX pipe over some of the metal alternative piping solutions. Most notably, PEX pipe is flexible. When using copper pipes you have to make connections every time you want the pipe to change directions. With plastic alternatives this is not required and you can easily bend the PEX pipe around obstacles. This means that your system will require less connections, and this reduces the chance of problems in the future. PEX comes ina variety of different tubing sizes. Typically 3/4th inch tube is used for the main lines and the subsidiary lines will use 1/2 inch tubing. There are numerous fittings that are available for PEX tubing, and the material is able to connect to a number of different types of tubing through the use of these fittings. It can connect to copper and other plastic piping materials without the use of a soldering iron and flame, which in turn will save a lot of time during the installation process. Keep in mind that the tools required for PEX plumbing are a bit more expensive than the tools that are traditionally used with other types of materials. The crimper, which is used for a vast majority of fittings is an expensive tool and you may need several different sizes of crimper if you are working with a number of different types of pipes. Since PEX is so easy to use, it has not only been gaining a following with contractors and plumbers, but with the home handyman as well. Systems that are made from PEX tubing are generally very easy to repair and make changes to with the use of a decrimper tool. This tool will loosen the crimp ring and allow you to detach the connections from themselves. It is easy to see why PEX pipes have become so popular in recent year.s They are very durable and are more reliable than the alternative materials that have been used for quite some time. It is just now catching on in North America but has been used overseas for a number of years.

Engineering systems based on pipes Rehau PEX RAU-VPE (PE-Xa) have the following advantages over similar systems from other PEX manufacturers, made on the basis of polymeric materials:

* PEX Pipes Rehau standardized in accordance with DIN16892/93;
* Tube material Rehau meets DIN1988;
* The PEX tubes are formed Rehau domestic deposits;
* Light weight, ease of installation;
* High withstand loads: in case of accidents are possible short-term load of up to 110 ° C;
* High impact strength down to -50 ° C, providing plumbing Rehau at subzero temperatures without restriction;
* PEX Pipes Rehau not susceptible to scratches;
* Bent by mistake Rehau PEX pipe can be returned to its original state by heating (memory effect);
* Rehau PEX Pipe diameter 32 mm bend without the use of special tools;
* Resistant to abrasion;
* Neutral to virtually all chemical products;
* Quick and easy permanent connection pipes Rehau by cold pressing (without rubber sealing elements) can be laid in the screed and a plaster; details of connections are made from a modified brass resistant to leaching of zinc;
* Battery life systems – more than 50 years;
* Experience confirmed by hundreds of millions of meters of PEX pipes made from Rehau RAU-VPE (PE-Xa).

Other materials are less convenient for the installation and lower on the physical properties of peroxide cross-linked polyethylene PE-Xa. For example, polypropylene, more prone to form deposits on the inner surface. Bending and expanding tubes formed white crack, due to which there is loss of strength. In addition, polypropylene has a low toughness, in connection with which there is a danger to the fragile state of transition and fracture the pipe at a temperature below 0.

Polyethylene, crosslinked by silane method – PE-Xb has the lowest degree of matching of all cross-linked polyethylene – 65%. Stitching on the uneven thickness of the material: the outer and inner surfaces, it is greatest in the bulk material is very low. PE-Xb tighter compared with PE-Xa, which complicates installation. The shape memory effect is less pronounced, which makes pipe Rehau less resistant to mechanical stress.

In physically cross-linked polyethylene PE-Xc (obtained by irradiation hard X-rays) and low degree of cross-linking – 70% compared with PE-Xa (85%). Material PE-Xc vaguely described in the German construction standards (DVGW). Very hard material, which limits its scope.

Steel tubes compared to pipes Rehau PE-Xa have a much greater coefficient of roughness (0.2 mm, while the PE-Xa – 0,007 mm) and are subject to corrosion, which sharply reduces their life in the systems and water supply systems. Have a much larger thermal conductivity (67 W / m * K), which leads to significant losses during the transportation carrier. More complex and lengthy installation.

Copper pipes are subject to pitting corrosion, in addition, have the highest thermal conductivity (393 W / m * K) of all these materials, which leads to very large heat loss. Roughness coefficient – 0,015 mm, much lower than that of steel pipes, but still two times higher than that of polyethylene. Copper – one of the most expensive materials.

Thus, pipes made of polyethylene PE-Xa, produced with the help of a peroxide crosslinking, compare favorably with characteristics of pipes made of other materials and meet all modern requirements and standards and water supply systems.

Metal pipes combine the best qualities of metal and PEX pipes. Listed below are characteristic differences of metal pipe on the pipes produced by traditional methods.

High strength makes possible the implementation of metal pipes piping water and heating with a high internal pressure.

Thermal stability allows for the pipe for the installation of hot water and heating, including boiler rooms.

Resistance to multiple, sudden changes in pressure and temperature.

Absolute resistant to corrosion, high chemical resistance make it possible to use them for pumping corrosive liquids.

These pipes are not clogged, on their inner surface are not deposited any scale or corrosion products, brought coolant from other elements of the system. Consequently, the hydraulic characteristics of the pipes does not change throughout life.
* The low roughness of the inner surface – 10 times lower than that of copper (brass), pipelines, and more than 20 times lower than that of steel. This property allows the use of pipes of smaller diameter, which makes the system compact and neinertnymi, use pumps of lower power and completely abandon the rules set in the project section of the pipeline is three times larger than necessary, so that after 10 years as a result of coking pipe flow area was nominal. But this causes an increase in load on the pumping equipment, high operating costs, high capacity system.
* Extreme flexibility allows repeatedly to reduce the number of connections, respectively, to reduce the hydraulic resistance, improve system reliability and speed installation, reduce the cost of material and the whole system. Approachable metal-tube allows to make the tribe with a very small bend radius, and the sections where the bending remains constant.
* Persistently maintaining shape during bending.
* Lack of internal stresses and, consequently, increased service life.
* Low coefficient of linear expansion (as in copper) can do without additional compensators.
* One hundred percent oxygen and water resistance. Aluminum pipe layer does not transmit oxygen and thus prevents the occurrence of corrosion within the systems of heating (boilers, radiators, boilers, etc.).
* Electrical. Special design allows fitting to interrupt electrical contact and prevent premature failure of the system due to exposure to electric fields.
* Non-conductivity of noise and vibration – a property particularly important for residential premises. The outer and inner layers of polyethylene pipe reduce noise levels, which are usually very well transmitted and reinforced with metal pipes.
* Compact and lightweight packaging make it easy to transport metal pipes and reduce transportation and storage costs to a minimum. Bay of pipes with a diameter of 16 mm length of 200 meters weighs only 25 kg (200 m copper pipe weighs 80 kg).
* The service life under specified operating conditions is at least 50 years.
* It is absolutely environmentally friendly material. PEX pipe have no contraindications for use in installations of all types: from pipelines for drinking water pipelines to fuel.
* Due to the fact that the outer layer of the pipe is crosslinked polyethylene, there is no need to protect the pipe from the outside against corrosion, and paint it.

On the basis of metal pipes can implement any scheme of spreading room:

* Distribution;
* Pipe;
* Floor heating;
* Baseboard wiring;
* Traditional routing of pipelines (similar to steel structures).

The pipe is designed to provide hidden and open spreading room. Possible pipe laying in the wall canals, mines, sex, concreting, pipe in pipe “, as well as direct concreting. But the main feature of metal pipe that is – the ideal material for floor heating systems – the most promising form of heating. In this regard it is important to note that the pipes are supplied in coils of 200 m, which allows you to put them in the floor without a single interface.

Each of their water supply systems especially among which is very important, water temperature and pressure. These values are crucial in the selection of PEX pipes, as a strong influence on their durability.

PN 10 – for cold water (up to +20 ° C) and heated floors (up to +45 ° C), the nominal operating pressure of 1 MPa (10.197 kg / cm);

PN 16 – for hot and cold water (up to +60 ° C), the nominal operating pressure of 1,6 MPa (16.32 kgf/cm2);

PN 20 for hot water (temperature up to +95 ° C), nominal pressure of 2 MPa (20.394 kgf/cm2);

PN 25 (reinforced) for hot water and central heating (up to +95 ° C), nominal pressure of 2,5 MPa (25.49 kg / cm).

In addition, the fasteners are manufactured from PEX. Combined parts, having in the design nickel-plated brass extrusion box with an external or internal thread, make it easy to switch from PEX to the metal. They are equally suitable for pipes of any number of pressure.

Benefits

Reliability and durability of pipeline systems is directly dependent on the quality and properties of the source material. The invention of PEX mark “Random copolymer” RRRS was the culmination of unique research. It managed to combine a number of valuable properties, which makes this material ideal for creating high-pressure water systems and heating systems.

Many years of service

On the surface, having direct contact with water, does not form deposits and corrosion. The inner diameter of the pipes does not diminish with time.

Maintaining water purity

The material is absolutely non-toxic and chemically resistant (inert), and therefore does not affect the quality of transported water.

Resistance to changing conditions

PEX mark “Random copolymer” RRRS withstand changes in temperature and pressure in a wide daipazone.

Low thermal conductivity

In the working mode (the flow of water) on the surface of the pipeline does not form condensate.

Ability to dampen noise and vibration

PEX pipes and fittings have good sound absorption, and therefore limited to the transfer of noise arising during the flow of water through the pipes and fittings, which are many times reduced in comparison with metal, the sound transmission

Saving of time

Installation of PEX mark “Random copolymer” RRVS requires minimal skills, time and effort. Socket welding technology allows only a few seconds to ensure the longevity tight connection.

Savings

Unique price / performance ratio is achieved due to low cost raw materials and technological simplicity of installation. In addition, the durability of PEX pipe favorably with metal.

Unpretentiousness of Service

Reinforced PEX does not require painting, as they have an even color across the surface of the material (do not change it). Besides, there is no need to pre-training of pipes and fittings.

And once again saving

PEX pipes and fittings in the 9 (!) Times lighter than metal, therefore, significantly reduces transport and storage costs and complexity of installation, which correspondingly reduces the time and cost of installation.

Assembly

PEX pipelines suitable for all known types of seals: open brickwork, laying under plaster, in mines and channels, etc. Installation of pipelines from the “Random copolymer” (RRRS) should be performed at an ambient temperature not lower than -10 ° C. Connection of PEX parts made with the help of special equipment by heat welding into the socket.

Most people have been too accustomed to the copper pipes to notice the existence of other pipes such as the PEX pipes. Old is gold they say but not all that glitters is gold. In spite of, the copper pipes having so many benefits over other pipes, it does have its disadvantages which can be supplemented by the use of the PEX pipes. Here, are a few benefits of using the PEX pipes.

To start with, the PEX pipes are highly resistant to extreme temperatures. This is also the same to the copper pipes but it can easily break when exposed to extreme ones. This is because the expansion and contraction ability of the copper pipes is not acceptable and can easily break during freezing. The PEX pipes on the other hand, cannot break. This is due to their high flexibility which enables them to withstand different temperatures by stretching instead of expansion which weakens the copper pipes.

Among the benefits of the PEX pipes is their high resistance to corrosion. Copper is a metal and like all other metals, they corrode. However, its corrosion percentage is low and highly resistant. Copper pipes only corrode when exposed to high levels of water pH of either too acidic or basic. This leads to their corrosion which leads to metallic taste in the water and subsequently wearing off. PEX pipes on the other hand are not made of metal; it is made of cross-linked polythene pipes. It is therefore highly resistant to corrosion.

Cost effectiveness of the PEX pipes is another benefit that exceeds the copper pipes. Other than its low purchase price, the PEX pipes’ installation is cheaper as it requires fewer fittings and less energy to position. This can save a lot and have more money left for other uses. Copper pipes are expensive starting from their buying price to their installation as they are inflexible hence require more fittings to customize.

Another benefit of the PEX pipes is their ability to be used with other pipes. This makes them essential by giving them a variety of uses. They can easily be used with metal and PVC pipes either for extension of between them as loop to allow their expansion.

Finally, the PEX pipes are more reliable. This is because they need fewer fittings which the more they are the higher the chances of leaking. They can easily be bent round corners unlike the copper pipes which need more fittings to achieve this.

Installation of copper ‘underfloor heating’

Collector of floor heating systems are supplied with metering and thermostatic valves that allow adjust coolant temperature.

1. Polyethylene pipes
2. PVC pipes, steel and iron

Connection pressure polyethylene pipes without welding is possible in two ranges of diameters: small (20-110mm) and medium (63-315mm). The range of large diameters is clearly uneconomical for connection without welding, but in terms of durability and reliability – even dangerous.

For pressure pipes of rigid materials (PVC, steel, iron) of dimension greater range of mechanical connections, covers the small and medium-sized (40-300mm), and part of the large-diameter (350-600mm).

In this case of welding of polyethylene is not, however, find it necessary to offer you reliable solutions that are in some cases exceptional advantages when connecting pipes without welding metal.

The question may seem odd for a company that is engaged in welding of PEX pipe …

Nevertheless, there are many reasons, when the fusion has to be abandoned. In this paper we consider the main causes of non-welded joints, as well as offer their own solutions to the issue. Please note, we will focus on high-pressure pipelines external networks of polyethylene, PVC, iron and steel.

Plan article:

1. Reasons for non-welding
2. Types of the pipe
3. Proposed solutions

Reasons for non-welding Insulating PEX Pipe for Plumbing Applications

First determine what grounds the decision in favor of the mechanical connection of pipes. Typically, three factors are decisive:

* Price issue
* Difficult conditions
* Limited time

The price of the issue implies a high price for the services of welding, for example, in connection with a small amount of work. Suppose you need to implement one or more joints of polyethylene pipes of small diameter. Challenge teams of welders would cost more than the cost of devices of these compounds (sometimes several times), not to mention the cost of the equipment.

Difficult conditions often preclude the use of welding. Very limited space, constant intense influx of water when the tube is fully or partially submerged in water, even the remoteness of the place of work on urban infrastructure – these and many other cases, the performance of welded joints is a challenge or impossible.

The third example is found in the life of the operational service. In this example, you can combine all three factors in one – an accident on the pipeline. Time of the accident can not be predicted at this case in stock usually has a repair kit. But what about when it comes to plastic pipe, and its own team of welders and related equipment is not available?

To address these questions we turn to the third part of the article, and now dwell on the description of the types of pipes, which in principle applies mechanical means of connecting pressure pipes.

In the case of small diameter PEX pipe (20-110mm), for binding of the pipeline most commonly used compression PEX fittings. This is the cheapest and easiest way that does not require sophisticated instrumentation and special skills of the artist. But where is cheap and simple, there is not always reliable. If you choose the compression should carefully consider those restrictions, ignoring which can lead to undesirable consequences. A detailed description of this type of connection in the article “compression fittings.

The average diameter pressure pipelines made of polyethylene (63-315mm) require a high degree of reliability of the connection. When it comes to top line of the size of the average range and technically possible to perform welding of polyethylene (in most cases have this opportunity), we strongly recommend to do it.

When this is not possible (this also happens), we propose to use the repair and fittings Viking Johnson for polyethylene pipe (series AquaFast).

* Solutions for pressure pipes made of PVC, iron and steel

Pressure piping from rigid materials are characterized by complex connections in the case of different diameters, different materials of pipes and especially in their misalignment during connection.

For the range of diameters 40-600mm is ideal for repairing and connecting fittings Viking Johnson series MaxiFit, which was originally developed for shipbuilding. With its high reliability and wide range of applications, it has a number of exceptional benefits to welded joints. These benefits and other technical details of products we consider later in the article on the fixture Viking Johnson.

PEX pipes, unlike any other plumbing material have some qualities that will make it unique. These properties include a linear expansively, together with some burst proof expansive properties that will make the material far better for use than others in terms of in house plumbing. There are some properties, though that the material shares with the others that used to be of use in the plumbing business. The polyethylene material in the PEX pipe is freeze resistant. This poses a formidable challenge to the system, since some form of clogging is possible when in the extreme cold season. The measure therefore that can be taken to combat this challenge is by insulating the PEX pipe with some material that will cause a protection against any extreme cold temperatures that may adversely affect your drainage system. The materials that can be used are actually the same as those which can be used to seal some of the other plumbing tubes. Most of what can be done is like any other insulation process. 1. Covering of the PEX pipe: The first procedure is to cover the pipe with a cell that is fully closed. To do this, one must acquire the right diameter of the insulation material that fits the pipe in diameter. The insulating material must be nonrigid and should fit through the pipe. 2. Sealing the insulation: After the covering is done, the pipe insulation is sealed. This is done by removing some plastic made seals that are found on each side of the insulation. These seals cover some form of adhesive that is used to be attached to the pipe. It is necessary to ensure that the seams to the insulation are thoroughly covered and sealed. 3. Taping the insulation: The next step involves taping the seams that have been used to seal the whole pipe. The reason for this is to further discontinue any form of heat loss through the seams. It is necessary to note that the greatest amount of heat loss occurs through the joints that are present in the pipes. This is also true for such places that are shift from one piping material to the other. It is essential therefore to seal these ends to reduce the chances of heat loss. Most of the work done in these processes are sincere and can be achieved even without professional assistance.

Age metal pipes are much younger than the pipe cross linked polyethylene. The first metal-plastic pipes produced little more than ten years ago in England. The conventional designation of metal pipes – PEX – AL – PEX. New Development – PE – RT – AL – PE – RT (PEX – polyethylene, PE – RT – heat-resistant polyethylene, Al – aluminum) or PR – AL … for polypropylene. Metal pipe – essentially the same PEX – pipes, inside which establishes an additional layer of aluminum foil. The main purpose of installing foil – to reduce the coefficient of linear expansion PEX-pipes (this layer is also a diffusion barrier). Pipes made of metal-is a complex structure of five layers:

1. crosslinked polyethylene (REX or PE – RT) or polypropylene;
2. adhesive layer for a tight connection of plastic and metal;
3. overlapped or butt welded aluminum pipe;
4. gum;
5. crosslinked polyethylene, crosslinked polyethylene (REX or PE-RT) or polypropylene;

One of the advantages of metal pipes – the ability to maintain shape after bending, which allows their use in the open strip (PEX pipes installed just hidden). Apart from these, the main characteristics of metal pipes are as follows:
ability to withstand constant pressure (the pressure of 10 bar at 95 ° C);
physiological suitability for drinking water and food;

- 100% I impenetrability gases;
- Slight thermal expansion;
- Lack of structural changes and deterioration;
- Two types of pipe joints – pressing and Mapesil;
- Diameters of 16, 18, 20, 25, 26, 32, 40 and 50, 63, 75, 110 mm (in the system UNIPIPE).

The multilayer structure of metal pipes is a new word in the technique of montage. If their use does not have to think whether to use metal or plastic, because they use a combination of these materials. Supplied in coils or portions of various sizes virtually eliminates the need to cut pipes, but an exception of welding, threading or soldering faster and cheaper installation.

At present projection and installation of heating systems are most commonly used five materials.
This copper pipe (connects a capillary soldering or press-fitting)
polypropylene pipes for heating systems (reinforced with aluminum)
tube of cross-linked polyethylene (PEX), PEX pipe and of course copper pipe. Exotic materials such as PVC pipes, joined
on glue, etc. Here we shall not consider.

The only drawback of copper wiring
is its cost – it is about 2.5 times the price
wiring of heating on polypropylene. However, if you build a house not
for sale, but for myself, it is worth once again to weigh whether to save
on the life of the system. In any case, none of our customers
have not regretted that fire, water and copper pipes come together in his service.

Followed by a copper pipe is polypropylene.
On the cut, she strongly resembles metal, but differs
way to connect and thickness. Polypropylene is connected with
machine that heats the PEX to a temperature
melting, and thus the fitting is welded to the pipe. If cut
Such a connection across, then the weld is not visible – Pipes
and fitting literally mixed together. Such a connection is
very reliable. Deficiencies of polypropylene in comparison with copper: a large
thickness of pipes and fittings, a large exposure to temperature deformation,
high degree of aging at high temperatures (over the years, pipelines
become more fragile, like a long lain in the ground PEX
package).

By Research Institute of Plumbers guaranteed
life of the heating system of polypropylene is 15 … 30
years.

Nevertheless, despite these shortcomings, polypropylene
on the reliability of installed systems firmly holds second place in
range of materials for heating systems.

Pipe XLPE
(PEX, or “pipe shape memory”) differs from polypropylene only
more flexibility and the way to connect. Such pipes extend special
apparatus, are inserted into the fitting, then the apparatus is removed,
and the pipe is securely compress fitting. The main disadvantages of such pipe
- Limited lifetime at high temperatures (like polypropylene)
and very high flexibility. Beautiful outdoor wiring to make such
tube is almost impossible – it has to hide in the walls.

The penultimate place among the materials
heating is repoussage. Metal PEX pipe
so popular even 5 years ago, is now gradually losing its appeal.
This is because, firstly, on the market a huge number of
Low-quality metal-pipe, and secondly, leaking,
which are formed at the junction of metal pipe after 2-3 years
exploitation.

Most popular – polypropylene pipes, or rather PPRC-3 (Poly Propylene Random Copolymer). These pipes are suitable for hot and cold water, heating.
Mounting PEX pipes

In addition to its excellent quality and many operational advantages, PEX pipes is also very easy to install. Welding of PEX pipe does not take much time, does not make no noise, no dirt, or any other unpleasant effects.

The fact that the ration PEX pipes can be accomplished in the shortest possible time, allows you to work in virtually any conditions. When installing the polypropylene tubes used apparatus for welding of PEX pipe, which can be reliably welded pipe, providing them with a strong connection with each other.

Soldering PEX pipes does not require special security measures. Soldering PEX pipes is very easy to carry and operate, it works on the mains voltage 220V and quickly solder PEX pipes together with fittings.

pex pipe

This is achieved through a special technology so-called crosslinking, which provides the molecules crosslink polyethylene. This process makes PEX Pipe PEX so dense and strong.
Basic properties of PEX pipes

# Flexibility and memory shape.
# Stability at the maximum temperature up to +95 degrees Celsius and a maximum atmospheric pressure to 10 atm. We should respect the rules and operating conditions.
# Application antikislorodnogo barrier, which prevents the penetration of oxygen into the tube, which ensures long life PEX pipes
# The smoothness of the inside of the tube, which prevents accumulation of dirt and mud. This property guarantees the longevity of the pipe and the purity of water supplied.
# Resistance to chemical influences, solvents, allowing use of plastic pipe and for the filing of fluids in the workplace.
# High elasticity of the pipe, which prevents the formation of cracks and wrinkles, even with prolonged exposure and heavy load, including at high temperatures.
# Resistance to abrasion. This property provides a long service life PEX pipe even in areas that are subjected to constant mechanical stress.
# High resistance to electric current. PEX pipe, as any polyethylene pipes are resistant to stress and do not conduct current. This allows their use in all institutions, residential zhomah and enterprises.
# High strength. Technologies and production methods PEX pipes, you can create high-strength pipes for water supply, gas supply, sewage systems and other life support systems.

Production of PEX pipe has a rather wide range, among which there are PEX pipes, from the combined material. For example, the widely used PEX Pipe AL, made of metal plastic, having quality characteristics and indicators of resilience.

Scope PEX pipe is wide enough. The first is the life support system of residential houses.
Applications PEX pipes

1. The hot and cold water (PEX Pipe Uponor and others). The temperature of water supplied may vary from 0 to 60 degrees Celsius. For the different temperature of water used different series of PEX pipes. Operating pressure, it also varies depending on a series of pipes and class exploitation.

2. Heating systems radiator type (PEX pipes Barbi, and others). PEX pipe for heating systems can withstand water temperatures up to +90 degrees Celsius. Operating pressure in such pipes is allowed to 0,6 MPa and 1,0 MPa, depending on the series of tubes.

3. Heating systems floors and walls. For heated floors and walls are used PEX pipe, resistant to water temperature to 70 degrees Celsius. Operating pressure at the same time is the same as for the pipe radiator heating, ie up to 0,6 MPa and 1,0 MPa depending on series.

4. Trunk pipelines of heating systems. It can be used tubes of different series, depending on the nature of the heating system.

This is only the basic scope of PEX pipes. PEX pipes can also be used in the heating system in the heating of the collector and lezhakovogo type of heating systems with open and hidden wiring.

In general, such a widespread use of PEX pipe and rightly so. In addition to these properties, they have an array of advantages over metal pipes. For example, PEX pipes for drinking water do not attach extraneous water tastes and smells, do not affect its composition and does not emit harmful pollutants into the water. In addition, these pipes are not decreasing in the inner diameter, which can not escape the metal pipes because of corrosion and various kinds of growth.

Another important advantage of plastic pipes and PEX pipes before the metal is their capacity to depreciation in the abrupt change of pressure. This property is very useful, for example, in cases such as a sharp close the water tap. This hydraulic shock in the tubes several times smaller compared with tubes made of metal.

These pipes are many positive qualities that give them special advantages. The pipes made of PEX does not take place deposits or corrosion. The service life of their long – up to 50 years if the pipe will serve you much less time, the reason for this probably is their wrong. In addition to reliability, you can also note that they are resistant to chemicals, and their thermal conductivity is not as high as for metal.

Apply pipe made of PEX rather widely, also in an industrial environment – for the transportation of various substances. For communications pipes made of PEX – a good choice, they are environmentally friendly and do not require high costs. In approximately 65% of new buildings using this type of pipe. PEX tubing also may be used for external communication, by virtue of their properties. Besides the traditional functions – PEX plumbing, through the pipes and allowed gas.

PVC (polyvinyl chloride) – from the produce disc valves, diaphragm and Taco mixing valves, filters, Taco heating valves. Possible Temperature – 0-60C, the pressure in the pipes made of PVC can be up to 16 bar. PVC pipe is well resistant to chemicals.

PEX – suitable for PEX plumbing, construction of gas pipelines, sewerage. From it we obtain the body, adapters, PEX fittings. This polymer is inexpensive, that does not affect its properties, he enjoys wide popularity.
Possible Temperature from -40 to +70 C, the pressure can reach 10 bar. PEX is a flexible and durable material is also resistant to chemicals. Pipes made of PEX does not overgrow inside, they can freeze and subsequent unfreezing they do not collapse.

PEX – ABS – widely used for PEX fittings, products for the hull and pneumatic systems. The temperature, which can withstand the ABS ranges from -40 to +70 C and withstand the pressure of 15 bar. This material, characterized by resistance.

It should be noted that such properties as impact resistance manifested especially in the high content of butadiene in the ABS. Hardness, luster, rigidity – with styrene, and strength, heat resistance, hardness with acrylonitrile.

PVDF – for the manufacture of valves. The temperature can vary from -40 to +140 C and pressures as high as 16bar. Material resistant to radiation, chemical resistance, resistance to wear. In addition, resistant to ultraviolet.
PEX – a material is an insulator, solid, but it is worth considering that the chromium compound, N2SO4 and HNO3 are destructive to the PEX. To improve properties such as light and heat resistance of PEX added stabilizers. In addition to water use and PEX tubing for heating systems.

CPVC (chlorinated polyvinyl chloride), this material represents a modification of PVC. Because it produces PEX fittings, pipes. At a pressure of 16 bar, temperature washes range from 0 to-100C.

In addition, there is a modification of PEX, the material High strength and can withstand high temperatures.

It may be noted as polycarbonate, but it is used to spetsarmatury, thanks to its strength and hardness.
This material is inexpensive, it is absolutely safe, and economical.
To achieve high performance communication PEX tubing and low accident rate must be complied with the rules of operation, and before this assembly.

Details PEX pipe to protect from rain, pollution and ultraviolet radiation. Minimum storage temperature is +5 ° C. When storing PEX tubing should be based on the entire plane or on the shelves to avoid bending. If you break the rules of storage, the pipes can occur visually subtle destructive processes, which adversely affect the useful life. To determine by eye the quality of the pipe is unlikely to succeed. It should ensure that there is a seller’s certificate of conformity and hygienic conclusion. Some producers to protect consumers from counterfeit products produce certificates of authenticity that also need to ask the seller to demonstrate. The certificate must verify the duration and details of the organization, which it is issued. Be sure to save your receipts! If the pipe does not bear the load, to win the firm-seller money for the repairs themselves and their neighbors will be much easier. Read what is written on the tube. Producers who have nothing to hide show the following: company name, pipe size in millimeters (to the outside diameter), marking, material compliance regulations and requirements of DIN, characteristics and operating parameters of pipes (pressure and temperature), the date and time of manufacture, as well as country. By the way, there are generally accepted abbreviations for various materials. For a metal-PEX PEX-AL-PEX (domestic – PES-Al-PES), for propylene – PPH (GPR, homopolymer), PPB (PPB) – block copolymers, PPR-C – Random copolymer. Regarding the country of manufacture, then on the market today are pipes from Germany and Canada. Product quality depends mainly OT position taken by the producer in the world market, its reputation and popularity of the brand.

Radiant Heat and plumbing networks are truly the Achilles’ heel in the domestic systems, chemical industries, due to the aging, low quality of service and other factors. Has become clear that the old technical solutions have exhausted themselves and need new, advanced technologies. PEX pipe, going to replace steel – one of those ways is well proven in many countries.

Clearly, for the introduction of this technology requires an understanding of specific problems associated with it plastic under high pressure and elevated temperatures. Thus, it is known that the use of conventional polyethylene as a material for pipes is only possible for cold water, but not for heating because of low long-term strength of polyethylene.

An alternative conventional polyethylene can serve as such material as a cross-linked polyethylene, which has strength properties that allow its use in the manufacture of pipes for heating.

Basic versions of production technology and some physical properties of crosslinked polyethylene are described below.

Technology Crosslinked (PEX) polyethylene
There are several types of polyethylene – the product obtained by polymerization of ethylene,
- Low density (LD PEX);
- High density (HD PEX);
- Ultra high molecular density (UHMWPE) crosslinked (PEX).

In normal (raw or sewn), polyethylene (PE) are long molecules are not coupled with each other in a polymer matrix. At the same time, the mechanical properties such as hardness, tensile strength, etc. strongly depend on the relative position, “entanglement” of molecules. It is therefore not surprising that the possibility of forced coupling of molecules with each other is of utmost interest. Chemical coupling of molecules, known as “merging”, so changes the properties of raw polyethylene, which is becoming possible to use the material for the manufacture of PEX pipes in district heating. (Note that it is possible and the physical cross-linking due to the presence of small particles, inclusions, here it is not considered.)

However, interest in cross-linking led to fair amount of confusion regarding the methods of production and the benefits of a technology.

Peroxides – some chemicals are activated with high temperatures, creating free radicals. The radical removes a hydrogen atom from the carbon atom in the chain of polyethylene, leaving the D-radical. This active molecule can connect with and form a similar relationship, ie crosslinks.
The most popular peroxide – 2,5-dimethyl-2 ,5-di-(butylperoxy) hexane. At room temperature – in the liquid phase, but can be adsorbed on a wide variety of surfaces. At high (180-220 ° C) temperature decomposes to form free radicals.
Peroxide is adsorbed on the lumps or rolls of polyethylene, then the mixture is fed into a cylinder with a piston, reciprocating, where he quickly melts (a process Thomas Engel). Passing through the usual spinneret PEX is formed in the PEX pipe. Continue heating the formed more liquid pipe leads directly to the reaction of peroxide crosslinking and performs its task. Most important in this process – to ensure the desired thermal profile, to prevent excessive crosslinking early in the barrel extruder, so that, in turn, prevent large losses. In such cases it is recommended to use special screws.
Only this technology (peroxide) has stitching in the molten phase. This ensures a random distribution of “stitches” stitching on the volume of the melt. The result is also a lower density of hardened material. It is fundamentally important temperature control. Typically, suppliers peroxide take it upon themselves to provide the necessary manufacturer of temperature-time zvisimostyami.
The maximum proportion of cross-linking determined by the amount of peroxide.
